Lake Boating & Fishing
A freshwater lake, a 1.3-mile paved bike and walking trail, playgrounds, and picnic shelters are the main attractions at this Smith Creek Park off Gordan Road. The lake is a 35-acre spring-fed reservoir stocked with fish (catch and release fishing only), close to 40 feet deep in some spots, and surrounded by non-motorized boats.
A man named Jonathan Brown walked the shoreline after work, fishing for bluegill while waiting for friends to join him. His friend Kyle Shepard had already caught a few, and both men had been visiting the lake every day for a week.
This isn’t the most versatile lake in the area, but it has its charms. Swimming isn’t allowed, but it’s a popular spot for water skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. The alligator population at this lake is also relatively high. The lake is home to an annual alligator hunt to help control the population.
